Fly Korean Air! It is the greatest airline Wednesday, Jun 17 2009

I should have posted this at the beginning of my trip.

Whoops!

Anywho…Korean Air is the greatest airline

They have great service, pretty stewardesses, and good food. Plus, when you get on you, they give you a little comfort bag filled with goodies such as socks, a little toothbrush and toothpaste, and a eye cover? so you can sleep. You get your own entertainment console so you can watch movies, listen to music, or play video games.

The food is just right for an air trip. You get a nice bibimbap with soup for dinner. You can get juk (rice porridge) for breakfast. I got the omlette (which wasn't very good).

Oh, did I mention that the girls that work on Korean air are beautiful? Wow. Wow. Wow.

Random Pics: Hummus, Burgers, The Wolfhound, Ramen, and Chicken Wednesday, Jun 3 2009

I have been taking all of these photos and I just realized that I haven't put them up on the web yet. Here's what I've got. With exception of the Dakgalbi, the restaurants are all located in Itaewon.

First, you've got Hummus from Petra's Shwarma Shop.

The Jack Burger from the Bistro Corner. Yum…

The Wolfhound has reopened and the bathrooms are excitingly nice. Go drink a beer in there now.

Ramen from 81. They have the best Japanese style ramen in the city and if you eat the huge, huge bowl in 20 minutes; it's on the house.

Dakgalbi near Sookmyeong. I took my friend Jonathon there and he loved it. Yum

I’m going home to Momma: USA trip Tuesday, Jun 2 2009

I am going home to America from June 5th-26. So…I will try to upload stuff while I’m gone. I’ll try, but I have lots of food to eat and many people to meet.

I’ll be in Seattle from June 5th-10. I’m planning on making a day trip to Portland on the 6th or 7th. And then Philadelphia from June 11-15th. I’m planning a day trip to NYC possibly on the 14th.

Then I’ll head to Florida to spend time with my parents before flying out to Vegas for a couple of days before I head on bad.

If anyone has any recommendations of places I should go eat at, please let me know. If you are interested in meeting up, then just send me an e-mail!

Droolworthy: A Page from the New Groove Magazine Tuesday, Jun 2 2009

This month I have taken over the dining section in the Groove Magazine and I am very happy with the day it turned out. Dan Thwaits did a great job with layout.

You can pick up a copy all over Itaewon and other parts of Seoul and in Daegu and Busan.

If you are interested in contributing to this with restaurant or bar reviews, tips, pictures, or stories, just e-mail me at seouleats (at) gmail (dot) com.

Thanks,

My Nemesis: Roboseyo Saturday, May 30 2009

When I woke up this morning, the sun was shining, birds chirping, and there was a cool breeze echoing through my room. And then the sweetest thought entered my wakening consciousness: how much I would like to punch Roboseyo in the face.

With that happy thought in mind, I went for a jog, and I am now preparing to help cook lunch for children at an orphanage.

We should all think happy thoughts, they are great motivators.

Random Shots: Jongro 3-ga Monday, May 25 2009

Around Insadong and Jongro 3-ga you'll find a large number of senior citizens just hanging out. This is especially true of Tapgol Park. I was discussing this with Fatman Seoul and he told me there was a reason for this. Back in the day, Jongro 3-ga was the hip place for all the youngsters to hang out at. So, they've just come back home.

P.S. I wonder what Myeongdong will look like in 30 years then?

Wolfhound Renovations – Closing Dates Saturday, May 16 2009

Dear Wolfhound Customers and Friends –
As you may have heard we will be closing the Wolfhound Pub & Restaurant for renovations. Mairead– will you be ok? We will be closed for 10 days from Monday May 18 to Wednesday May 27 if all goes according to plan. Which it probably won’t. We will keep you up to date. Our renovations will include:
- restroom expansion (1 extra stall and sink for the women and 2 extra urinals for the men)

- new stairs
- new ventilation/duct system

As well as bringing back our homemade chips and the 2 for 1 Fish & Chips night we plan to introduce some new dishes to our menu.

Again if all goes according to plan we plan to serve:
- curry chips

- a cream pasta
- a vegetarian thai green curry

Our chef has prepared and tested all these new items and we plan to a have “soft” launching of the new menu items in June to receive feedback fom our customers and fine tune these new dishes. If you have any suggestions about new or existing dishes please let us know.

We may also introduce another weekly food special (similar to our 2 for 1 Fish n Chips) promoting our second most popular menu item our beef burger. Stay tuned.
